Lactated Ringer's injection is used to replace water and electrolyte loss in patients with low blood volume or low blood pressure. It is also used as an alkalinizing agent, which increases the pH level of the body. Can be used intravenously and subcutaneously.
1000ml contains – Sodium Chloride BP 6 g – Sodium Lactate 3.22 g – Potassium Chloride BP 400 mg – Calcium Chloride (Dihydrate) BP 270 mg
Lactated Ringers solution is sterile and non-pyrogenic.
It is isotonic with an approximate osmolality of 274 mOsm.
pH range 5.0 – 7.0.
